An on-line correspondent (Gladys at ImaBR@aol.com) says that church records indicate that Christine Chauvin Delery was the daughter of Joseph Chauvin Delery and Francoise, esclave (slave) from Africa. Christine Shannon (christine_sha@msn.com) reports in her on-line family tree that Francoise was born in France. In Le Pays de Fleurs Orange, Stringfield reports that the Genealogical Magazine of Montreal (Vol. XXXIV, 2 June 1983) says that Francoise was obtained from Pierre PAYEN DE CHAVOIS. At the time of her transfer, Christine had already been born. [4, 7]
